Download Withholding Formulas

Download a number of "General" payroll withholding formulas for things like employee child care, health insurance and retirement. Use these formulas as a starting point and customize them as needed for your situation.

Download Files & Import to Procare

  1. Click a Withholding Formula link from the list below. Save it to a place on your computer where you can easily find it again, such as your desktop.
  2. From the Procare Home screen go to Configuration > System > Accounting Management > Payroll > dbl-click Payroll Formulas.
  3. At the Payroll Formulas screen click the Import Formula button and browse to the file you downloaded (for example the file may be on your desktop).
  4. To view the imported formulas select the Category "General" (top left) on the Payroll Formulas screen. Dbl-click the name of the formula to edit it as needed.
  5. Then Assign Withholdings to Employees.

Important! You are responsible for ensuring accurate changes to General Withholding formulas. Procare does not update these formulas.

Download "General" Withholdings Description
Employee Child Care  Child Care for children of employees. Amount varies per employee.
Health Plan  Health Insurance with a varying amount per employee.
Retirement Plan  Withhold a fixed amount or percentage for retirement (per employee) with a maximum contribution limit per year. You may Set Exemptions if this is a pre-tax withholding such as with a 401k.
AFLAC  AFLAC Insurance. You may Set Exemptions if this is a pre-tax withholding.
Garnishment  Garnish a percent of net wages. Important! You MUST EDIT the formula to specify your state. After importing the formula, dbl-click the Formula Name "Garnishment" and change the formula on line 4 to your state. New York would be entered as Fun[nyinctx]. The default setting is California, shown as Fun[cainctx]. Contact Procare Support if you need assistance.
State / City Notice: YOU MUST MANUALLY EDIT State/City formulas when CHANGES OCCUR. Procare does NOT update these formulas.
CA - SDI 2011  2011 - California State Disability Insurance (CASDI).
CA - SDI 2012  2012 - California State Disability Insurance (CASDI).
IN - County Tax  County tax for Indiana residents. This formula may be used for any year. Enter the tax rate for each employee. Note: If you use this you must enter ZERO in the Indiana State Income Tax formula for the county rate so you aren't withholding the county amount twice.
NJ - Disability 2011  2011 - Disability insurance.
NJ - Disability 2012  2012 - Disability insurance.
NJ - Family Leave 2011  2011 - Family leave insurance for New Jersey.
NJ - Family Leave 2012  2012 - Family leave insurance for New Jersey.
NJ - Unemployment 2011  2011 - Unemployment insurance for New Jersey.
NJ - Unemployment 2012  2012 - Unemployment insurance for New Jersey.
NJ - Workforce Dev. 2011  2011 - Workforce development tax for New Jersey.
NJ - Workforce Dev. 2012  2012 - Workforce development tax for New Jersey.
NY - City 2011  2011 - Income tax for New York City.
NY - City 2012  2012 - Income tax for New York City.
OR - Work Comp  Worker's compensation for Oregon, also known as the Oregon Worker's Benefit Fund.
WA - L&I  Labor & industries tax for WA. Based on hours worked. All employees (even those who are salaried) must have hours imported to (or manually entered on) the Payroll Check Calculation screen.
Yonkers, NY 2011  2011 - Income tax for Yonkers, NY.
Yonkers, NY 2012  2012 - Income tax for Yonkers, NY.
