MacAfee and VPN Client Software

Print Page
Consumer versions of MacAfee anti-virus software are known to interfere with VPN client software including the Cisco Client used with Procare Data Hosting. If your computer uses MacAfee this article explains how to get the VPN software installed.

Installing the Cisco VPN Client with MacAfee

The following steps apply to all consumer versions of MacAfee. If you have an enterprise edition please disregard.
  1. If you have previously attempted to install the Cisco VPN Client you must uninstall it using the uninstall tool (sometimes called add/remove programs) in Windows.
  2. Uninstall MacAfee.
  3. Reboot your computer.
  4. Install the Cisco VPN Client.
    1. If the Procare Client is already installed you'll Install the Cisco Client Only.
    2. If the Procare Client has not yet been installed you'll Install both the Procare & Cisco Clients together.
  5. Make sure that you can now log into Procare.
  6. Re-install MacAfee.
