Symptom:
You were using Procare version 9 with older tax tables then updated to a newer release of version 9 (or downloaded new tax tables). Afterwards, calculations for state tax withholdings may be a fraction of what they used to be.
What Happened:
In some cases the format for percentages changed in the new tax tables. For example, previously 7-1/2 percent would have been entered as 0.075 and now it is entered as 7.50. In other words the decimal place has moved two positions.
How to Correct:
- For each employee (in version 9) go to the Edit button, then click the Withhold button, then the Variables button.
- Next to the Category "State" for any percentage move the decimal two places to the right, for example 12-1/2 percent should be entered as 12.5 (not as 0.125).
