# Ratio-based Schools & Family Scheduling

By turning on [Family Selected Scheduling](/procare-desktop/docs/myprocare-turn-on-family-selected-scheduling) in MyProcare, Procare Cloud customers may choose to allow current families (those who are already in Procare) to set and change schedules for their children.

## Parent Created Schedules Affect Ratios

Schedules set by parents immediately change the [Child Schedules](/procare-desktop/docs/assign-child-schedules) in Procare. Although you may choose to receive an email alert when schedules are changed, there is no moderation of the changes. This will affect your scheduled child-to-teacher ratios and reports. If you are a ratio-based school, this may or may not be appropriate for your situation. Since parents control the schedules of children, it could be challenging for a ratio-based program to manage staffing levels.
